Launceston: St Thomas the Apostle
Welcome to the parish church of St Thomas the Apostle, Launceston in the Anglican Diocese of Truro and county of Cornwall England. Its tranquil setting was once the site of the largest Priory in Cornwall, which was dissolved by Henry VIII in 1540. The Priory ruins are visible adjacent to the church.

Launceston: St Mary Magdalene
A very warm welcome to you, from all at St Mary Magdalene Church Launceston. This wonderful church is built on the site of a once medieval chapel traceable back to a license for a chapel written by the bishop in June of 1380. The current bell tower forms part of that early building. The remainder of the present building was consecrated in 1524, although the site, and some stonework, is even older than the Medieval name. The church you now see was built following the tragic death of Sir Henry Trecarell's young son in 1511 (find the full story here). Our tradition in these days, includes a splendid red-robed choir, which provides much of the music for our worship, directed by our highly accomplished choir director and organist, Dr Sean Sweeney. Various visiting choirs and assistant organists can also be heard to play the extraordinary instrument. Services of mass and choral evensong are often sung to a very high standard. Worship is led by our relatively recently appointed priest in charge, the Rev'd Dr Michael William Dobson who is thrilled to sit in the line of so many exemplary clerics who have served S Mary's. Please come to experience worship with us.
O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel. God is seen enthroned in his sanctuary, where the praises and prayers of Israel are ever being offered up to him. Ps 22.3
We meet weekly at 10.30am and on first Sundays also at 5.30pm for choral evensong, in addition virtual services for our YouTube channel can be found here.

Safeguarding is important to us
The parish of Launceston is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops' guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of Truro’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
