St Clether is dedicated to St Cleder one of the twenty-four children of of King Brychan of Garthmadrun (Brycheiniog) in modern-day Wales. Several of his children became saints including St Nectan and St Petroc, or Petrock, and many churches in Cornwall are dedicated to King Brychan's children.
