Everyday faith
EVERYDAY FAITH
At St Paternus we are a small community of Christians living in a beautiful, rural parish bordered on the south by the gently flowing River Ottery as it winds it's way, carrying it's clear and fresh water toward the River Tamar and thence the oceans of the World.
Being small and of limited means it is wonderful, like the River Ottery, to be able to connect with the wider world. Experiences of others can be absorbed through the selection of videos this page has to offer and we invite you to read about our Daily Prayer Hour and Telephone Support initiatives, both of which are designed to give comfort, help and fellowship in difficult times.
With a low frequency of Church services we look for different ways of feeling the love of God and the fellowship of being together. Such a way is set out in the following invitation.
Join together with us during our Daily Prayer Hour.
When asked how they should pray, Jesus taught his disciples a prayer for the well being of the World, their community and their lives. A prayer asking God to meet their daily needs and a prayer for forgiveness for their wrong doings and for help in resisting the temptations of all sin and for their protection from danger....
The Lord's Prayer.
We invite and encourage you to say the Lords prayer each day and what better way is there to bring us all together in a wonderful feeling of fellowship than to say this all embracing prayer during the course of the same hour each day, knowing that other members of our community are doing the very same?
It is not a Church Service and neither is it a club. In fact it is not a public event at all. Just a wonderful way of praying to our Lord in the quiet of our own homes or wherever we may be in the World.
The hour is between 8pm and 9pm and please feel free to add as many prayers as you wish.

St PATERNUS TELEPHONE SUPPORT
Loneliness is a horrid experience and can be made even worse if you have health anxieties, other worries or are in despair of what life has brought to you.
We at St Paternus Parish Church recognise all of these things and, indeed, collectively have first hand experience, personal or otherwise, of how difficult they can make life.
In these circumstances simply having a friend to talk to, someone who is willing to listen, whom you can rely upon to call you on a regular basis, can make a World of difference.
Initially, please contact us at [email protected] and we will put you in touch with one of our team, who who will gently and kindly find out where your problems lie and discuss with you how best we could help.
