The Church is Grade 1 listed, both for its building and - unusually - its interior.

Next to the Church is a small Heritage Centre which tells the fascinating story of St Hilary with its historic links to St Michael’s Mount, and rich and celebrated history from pre-historic times to the present day. The Church has unique links with West Cornwall’s literary and artistic heritage, particularly the Newlyn Artists. The Procters, Harveys, Knights, Garstins and Walkes were all involved in the unique scheme of decoration of the church which has led to its Grade 1 listing. The Church is open all year round, from 10.00am to 6.00pm in summer and 10.00am to 4.00pm in winter, and the Heritage Centre is open from May to end of September on Wednesdays from 11.00am to 4.00pm, with refreshments available on Wednesdays.
