Coming up on Sunday: the third and final of our summer concerts. Crowan born Lowenna Wearne will sing a programme of classical and modern music showcasing her wonderful soprano voice on Sunday 15 August at 3pm. Donations welcome in aid of the church windows restoration fund.Lowenna grew up in Crowan and is currently studying musical theatre on an Actor/Musician course at Guildford School of Acting. As chorister at Truro Cathedral for five years, she took part in live BBC Radio 4 recordings, a concert with City of London Sinfonia and even appeared on Britain's Got Talent! She was a regional finalist in the 2019 Rotary Young Musician of the Year competition.
Not to be missed! The second in our summer series of free concerts will be on Sunday 18 July at 3pm - 'the cornet as you've never heard it' . Aaron Thomas and his brother William will play solos and duets to make this a Sunday afternoon to remember.Aaron, who like his brother grew up in Troon, near Camborne, was a member of the National Youth Brass Band until starting his studies at Exeter University. His exquisite cornet solos have brought audiences to their feet across Cornwall and beyond. He has been a member of Camborne Youth Band for many years and was a 2019 regional finalist in the Rotary Club Young Musician of the Year competition.Aaron and William will play a selection of pieces that showcase the range of the cornet, an instrument core to the brass band tradition. Cornwall's brass bands are amongst the best in the country.William Thomas is also a fine cornet player who is a long-standing member of Camborne Youth Band. William is starting his studies at Plymouth University this autumn.
