The pandemic has meant that our normal church calendar is very different this year so our traditional harvest festival celebrations are not going to happen. However, in this coming Sunday’s worship we shall be hearing the readings, reflection and special prayers for harvest-time - just without the customary cabbages and traditional tins of baked beans! Instead of our usual offerings of food or cash donations to a single charity, the suggestion is that we each give what we can to our own chosen charities, whether local, national or international (or all three if you can manage it!) and in this way give thanks for our particular harvest of God’s blessings. At the same time, with all that is going on in the world, how could we possibly not remember in our prayers all the people who don’t know where their next meal will come from, as well as those made homeless by fire or flood or fury of war. Please pray too for the PCC meeting on Friday (happening ‘virtually’ via ZOOM) at which we shall be looking amongst other things at the future the changes that face the parish in the coming years.
