Every day for the last week we have been watching the news with a sense of confusion, anger, and disbelief at the unfolding invasion of Ukraine. We have learnt that so far a million Ukrainian refugees have crossed into Poland and other countries, and we have also heard of great need within the country. Many people in this area are responding to these needs with great compassion, according to their ability. Here are a few ways in which we can all help:1. We can give to the Disasters Emergency Committee Ukraine appeal. www.dec.org.uk2. Could you host a refugee? Tell suffolkrefugee.org.uk3. You could donate specific products to help — there is a collection point at Fishers in Saxmundham. We can pray.Last Thursday, when war broke out, we held an impromptu prayer meeting in Darsham church, just praying for Ukraine. Despite little notice, twelve of us joined together in prayer. I wish to repeat this prayer meeting this Sunday 6th March, 3pm Darsham church. Again, this is for open prayer about the current situation. It is open to anyone, of any church, of any denomination — all are welcome. You don’t have to come for the start, you may leave at any point. You don’t have to pray out loud. If you do pray out loud, you don’t have to sound eloquent or polished. But in our helplessness it is good to pray, and to tell God what we think!
