Friston, St Mary the Virgin

St Mary's strives to be an integral part of the Friston community.  We offer our church as a Beacon of Hope for our village - for all who live, holiday and work here. The Star on top of the church tower remains lit all year round as a reminder that our church can be a place of reflection, consolation, hope and prayer for all. Faced with the issues and problems, not only of our village, but our world, everyone is welcome to join us for our Sunday services or just to pop into the church and churchyard any day for a few moments of quiet and reflection.

Our church and churchyard are open daily between the hours of 10.00am and 4.00pm.

The church is open to all each day for private prayer, contemplation and reflection. But you are welcome just to pop in and have a look inside.

We hold weekly services and celebrations throughout the year for the Church's major festivals.

We take heart from the many who frequently come to tend the graves of loves ones and ancestors, with visitors from far and wide.

We welcome you to sign our Visitors Book inside the church.

If you feel able, and would like to make a donation, this would be much appreciated to help us to maintain our medieval building.

Safeguarding

Safeguarding
"Our parish of Friston: St Mary the Virgin is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of St.Edmundsbury & Ipswich’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services."
