About Us
HISTORY:
Reading Minster also known as St Mary's Church is the original church in the town of Reading, Berkshire. In 979 Queen Elfrida, second wife of King Edgar, founded a royal nunnery on the Minster site as an act of repentence for the murder of her stepson, Edward (St Edward The Martyr) at Corfe Castle.
After years of structural deterioration, the Minster was restored extensively in 1551-55 using materials recovered from Reading's Norman abbey.
OUR MINISTRY:
We offer a tranquil setting amidst busy shopping malls, office buildings, and entertainment venues. We collaborate with organisations to give tangible aid to individuals who are marginalised in the community, and we aim to help those in surrounding businesses face the challenge of juggling work and family obligations, maintaining stability in employment, and experiencing spiritual poverty.
