Along with other local groups, the Friends of St Mary’s
Halesworth (FOSM) will be celebrating Halesworth Heritage
Day on Saturday 7th September, from 10am to 4pm in St
Mary’s church, Halesworth.
The national theme this year is “Routes, Networks and
Connection”.
Photography displays from Bungay High School and Beccles
Camera Club will be in church, with another display, from
Halesworth Camera Club, in the former fishmonger’s shop in
the Market Place. These displays will follow the national
theme for their work.
In St Mary’s, FOSM will exemplify the connections and
networking in our local community through all-day
demonstrations and teaching of tower bellringing, in part
using the on-loan mini-ring which shows at ground level how
the bells work; visits up the bell tower; a
display about the eminent local Hooker family of botanists; a
Repair Café session from 10am until noon, dealing with
electrical work, sewing machines and blade sharpening; and
– a new feature this year – a valuer from Clarke and
Simpson’s Auctioneers, who will give an opinion and
valuation on anything you choose to bring along - our own
version of the Antiques Roadshow! Even holiday souvenirs will be given due attention and evaluation, so don’t be shy.
There will be a suggested donation of £2 per item valued.
This event will take place from 1pm until 3pm.
Please come along and join us for any or all of these.
Refreshments will be available
