The PCC have this month completed the fundraising of just under £50,000 for the urgently underpinning of the east Chancel wall. An initial phase of work improving the drainage is nearing completion and it is hoped that the underpinning and other remedial work will be completed early in the new year. Without these works being undertaken now, further structural failure of this wall would lead to it’s instability and ultimate collapse, and potentially the closure of the church. £15,000 (30%) of the funds have been raised within the village thanks to your support over the years of the PCC’s many fundraising activities. Grants have thankfully come from Suffolk Historic Churches Trust, the Hargrave Charity, Allchurches Trust, Lord Belstead’s Trust, the Scarfe Trust, The Garfield Weston Foundation, the Alfred Williams Charitable Trust, Havebury Housing Partnership and The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
