The Transfiguration - 9th Sunday after Trinity 2023 (Online Holy Communion)

Occurring
for 6 days, 14 hours
Venue
Address

Our services in our churches continue as normal, however, we recognise that through ill health, frailty, or infirmity, not everyone is able to join us every week. Therefore, if you are unable to attend in person, you are warmly invited to join in with our Rector, The Revd Mark Woodrow, who is joined by our new Curate, The Revd Dr Karen Smith, as he celebrates Holy Communion from the Vicarage.

This week we celebrate the Feast of the Transfiguration of Jesus which is told in the gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke, and Peter refers to it in his Second Epistle. Each time, it is made clear that God’s salvation is for all, and Christ is the one who brings that salvation. The testimony of the law and the prophets to Jesus are given by the presence of Moses and Elijah, and the event also pre-figures the resurrection, giving a foretaste of the life of glory.

The readings for today are Daniel 7:9,10,13,14, 2 Peter 1:16-19, and Luke 9:28-36.

The hymns for today are, Christ is the world's true light, and, Be still, for the presence of the Lord.
