The season of joyful celebration that began at Christmas now continues through the successive Sundays of Epiphany, and only ends with the Feast of the Presentation (Candlemas).
The child who has been manifested to the magi at his birth, and whose Feast we celebrate today, will go on to be recognised by Simeon and Anna, when he comes to be presented in the Temple according to the Law of Israel.
He is both 'a light to lighten the Gentiles' and 'the glory of God's people Israel'.
Our readings today come from Isaiah 60:1-6, Ephesians 3:1-12, and Matthew 2:1-12.
Our Epiphany Carols today are 'As with gladness men of old' and 'We three kings'.
A service booklet to accompany this service can be downloaded from the benefice website www.stourvalley.org.uk.
