The Wilford Benefice
Welcome to The Wilford Benefice which is made up of 18 churches on the beautiful Suffolk Coast between the River Alde to the north and River Deben to the south. We are part of the Woodbridge Deanery in the Diocese of St Edmundsbury & Ipswich.
All visitors to our churches are warmly welcome, whether it is to attend services, to have some quiet time or appreciate the architecture and unique setting of each of our churches. Whatever your reason for visiting our churches, we pray that you will encounter the love, peace and grace of Jesus Christ.
Please note that during the Corona Virus Pandemic, our church buildings remain locked in line with UK Government and Church of England guidelines. However, you are still welcome to visit the churchyards to enjoy the prayerful peace and quiet. We would ask that you respect social distancing rules when visiting the churchyards.
There are a range of service types offered across the Wilford Benefice, covering Common Worship Holy Communion, All Age Communion, Book of Common Prayer Morning and Evening Prayer and Holy Communion, All Age Worship, Café Church, Compline, Reflection & Song and Taize. Services are led by our team of Clergy, Readers, and Elders. Throughout the year we also have special services such as ‘Blessing of Animals (Pet Service). We have services on the major Christian festivals of Christmas and Easter, with our Christmas Carol services seeing our churches packed out, and seasonal services such as Rogation and Harvest. Remembrance Day is an important service in all our churches as we remember the sacrifice of those who gave their lives for our freedom. Details of services are found on each church’s Services and Events page.
We have an open and welcoming approach to baptisms and weddings at all our churches, so please do contact us if you would like to find out more.
Our churches aim to be an integral and key part of the communities in which they are based, so we organise a number of social events throughout the year. Details of past and forthcoming events are found on each Church’s web page. We are actively involved with our local primary schools with regular clergy led assemblies, active Open the Book Teams and events such as ‘Messy Easter.’
If you want to find out more about our churches or the Christian faith, or you are intending to visit this beautiful area of Suffolk, please do get in contact through our contact page.
With all blessings
