Occurring
In November. Every Second Sunday at for 1 hour
Venue Address
Church Lane Sproughton Ipswich, IP8 3BD, United Kingdom
Annual Remembrance Service - please note the earlier than usual start time (10:15 instead of 11:00). The tower bells are rung half-muffled immediately prior to the service. Churchyard crosses will be placed on the gravestones during the service ( weather and time permitting). ‘Stories of the Sproughton Fallen’ tells you what we have so far discovered about the men named on our War Memorial, of their families, homes, schools, work, units served in, action seen, and the circumstances of their death. The names of the Sproughton fallen during the two world wars are read out loud (usually by the chair of the Parish Council), the Last Post is played just prior to 11am and the clocks strikes 11am when the national 2 minutes silence is observed. The service ends with the singing of the National Anthem
