About Us
St Mary's Harkstead is a true village church. Its committed members look out for each other as well as the rest of the community. At the major festivals and services such as Harvest Thanksgiving and the annual Carol Service, between 50 and upwards of 100 people of all ages come together to worship. The style of worship is broadly middle of the road. Our building is looked after by PCC members together with members of Harkstead Church Heritage.
Every Wednesday morning there is 'Church coffee' event in the Village Hall for anyone and everyone in the village and beyond who wants to come along. Its intention is to provide a social occasion for those who live on their own or those who may not be very mobile. There is much informal pastoral care of people in the parish.
Music forms a part of all the main services, using a rota of two local voluntary organists and a choice of hymns mainly from Hymns Old and New, Sing Praise and The Church Hymnary. The PCC has 10 members and meets about 8 times a year.
