Getting here
A friendly and welcoming little church which has two services a month - a service of Holy Communion and a Family Service or Morning Prayer. There is car park for visitors and the church is unlocked every day.
It is an interesting church in that it has a gallery still in good repair and lots of original features dating from Norman times onward. There are still hat pegs on the North wall where the men sat, the women sitting across the aisle on the south side - but not nowadays of course! The North nave window is late 1300's and ascribed to John Cryspyng and the church has a mention in the Domesday Book of 1066. There is a brief guide but more useful for historians than casual church visitors. A new one is being written.
The parish priest also looks after Bildeston with Wattisham, Semer, Naughton and Nedging Churches and lives at Bildeston. You can contact her by phone: 01449 740085 or e-mail: [email protected] to arrange weddings, funerals or baptisms or to enquire about the times and dates of services.
Each year there are always special services for Easter, Harvest, Remembrance and Christmas. Occasionally Messy Church specials happen here too.
There is also a small Salvation Army place of worship nearby.
