Annual Church Fete

Occuring
for 2 hours, 30 mins
Venue
The Parish Church of Claydon & Barham,
Address
Church Lane Barham Ipswich, IP6 0PT, United Kingdom

The annual Church fete is on Saturday 8th June 2024 in the grounds of Barham Church starting at 2.00pm. This event is very much part of our village life having taken place every year for over 70 years come rain or shine (but not a COVID lockdown!). It is a great opportunity to get out and meet up with old friends and to meet new ones. Whilst it is a fundraising event, success is measured more my the fact that people enjoy it rather than the amount of money made so an effort is always made to ensure that it is fun and affordable for all ages. We will have all the traditional side shows to try your skill/luck at as well as bargains in next-to-new, white elephant. books and produce. If you want to buy a home-made cake make sure you are not late as this is always one of the most popular stalls. There will be a bouncy castle there for the youngsters.

Offers of help or stock for stalls, bottles for the bottle tombola or prizes for the main raffle would be much appreciated. Please contact .

We look forward to seeing you there. If it is wet, please still turn out as there will be plenty of tents to shelter in.

Footnote - we have a long standing policy for this event that we do not have any commercial stalls as space is limited and also so that those attending know that all proceeds go to towards the maintenance and improvement of the Parish Church.

The Parish Church of Claydon & Barham,

A Church for the whole community of Claydon & Barham and is one of the three Churches in the Claydon Benefice. The other two are Gt Blakenham and Henley. Everyone is welcome to join in any of our services. Our main weekly service is at 10am every Sunday although when there is a 5th Sunday it is a Benefice service, so may be at either Henley or Gt Blakenham. Please check service details on our weekly notice sheet via the menu.

This is a big airy Church and, if you wish, plenty of room for social distancing. Sharing the Chalice and greeting each other during the Peace is left to personal choice

The Church building is open SEVEN DAYS PER WEEK FOR VISITORS AND FOR PRIVATE PRAYER AND REFLECTION .  The building will be opened before 10am and closed after 4pm. If you visit on a Friday morning between 10am and 12.30pm you will also be able to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and a chat.  We house a branch of the Bacon Road Community Library at the west end of the Church where visitors can help themselves to books and puzzles and/or donate their own books and puzzles for the enjoyment of others. The service is free although donations are invited for the benefit of the local Foodbank

We came out of a 4-year vacancy at the end of February 2024 when we welcomed Rev Tracey Casewell as our Rector to lead our Ministry Team and Churches into the future

The parish Church of Claydon & Barham is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults and our Safeguarding Policy  can be found on the menu and is displayed on Church noticeboards. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer, (PSO). The Diocese of St.Edmundsbury & Ipswich’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
