This year marks the one hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the consecration of Saint Augustine's Church. On Saturday 8 June we celebrated this anniversary with a Solemn Mass. 8 June does not mark the actual anniversary, but we transferred our celebrations to this day to avoid clashes with Bank Holiday and half-term arrangements, as well as marking the actual anniversary itself. The service of celebration with a lovely occasion, with a congregation of about seventy, including local councillors, visiting clergy, ecumenical guests, and members of the other congregations of our parish. We go forward into the next 150 years buoyed up by this occasion.
