Saint Augustine's is a magnificent 19th Century building. Designed by Bodley it is a Grade 1 Listed building and is hugely significant in the North West. Known locally as the 'Miners Cathedral' it stands as the gift of Edward Heywood and was established within the Catholic Tradition of the Church of England.
Today Saint Augustine's stands faithfully proclaiming the Kingdom of God and acting as the Gate of Heaven in Pendlebury. The Church is a part of the Swinton & Pendlebury Team Ministry and this is a Forward in Faith Parish. The Mass is offerred here as are the other sacraments of Baptism, Marriage, Confession etc. Funerals are also held.
