Our ministry to the sick
Our most basic ministry to the sick is by virtue of prayer. We maintain a list of sick persons in our prayer on our weekly newsheet and use it frequently at services in church. Names are not restricted to regular members of our congregation and can be entered through the parish office, by asking one of the clergy, or at any service in church.
We are also active in visiting those who are sick in local hospitals, care homes, and in their own homes. Holy communion is often taken to those who wish.
The oil of the sick (for use at the anointing of the sick) is kept in church and the laying-on of hands and the anointing of the sick are available either by appointment or at the 10am mass on the last Saturday of the month, which always includes the rites of the laying-on of hands and the anointing of the sick as part of the prayer and worship on that occasion.
