The Church Bells

Orford Church has eight bells As part of a millennium initiative  four new bells were cast by Royal Eijsbouts, Holland and carefully matched to match the tone of the  four old bells. salvaged  when the  church tower collapsed. The four old bells  are the 5th (1639) the 6th  (1694) and the 7th and 8th  (both 1679) (1694) and the 3rd and 4th bells (1679) .The old bells were all restored and rehung with the four new lighter bells and are all in excellent condition. The great clock bell  was made by Thomas Gardiner  in Sudbury in 1739 to chime the hour for his Tower clock .

The current bell ringing team is 6 strong and we are looking for new ringers.  Bell ringing practice is on Thursdays evenings with new learners starting at 7.00 pm.
