Our clergy all share a particular care for those who are bereaved, and we welcome the opportunities to offer that care and support to families in these challenging moments. As the State Church, all are welcome to have a funeral in church, or a member of clergy to officiate at a funeral at the crematorium, regardless of their beliefs.
At a funeral, we give thanks for the life of the person who has died, commend them to God's eternal care, seek the consolation and support of God's peace and compassion, and share in the hope that Jesus brought.
If you are arranging a funeral for someone, you can ask your funeral director to arrange for one of our clergy to take the service. We can then arrange to meet with you, find out about the person who has died and then plan the funeral service with you.
The Church is here to support all those who find themselves grieving the loss of a loved one. If you would like to talk to someone, please get in touch, even if the Church wasn't involved in the funeral we are still here to support you.
Your loved one can be remembered by name in our services as we approach the funeral and afterwards. There is also our annual All Souls service in November when we extend a special opportunity to remember before God all those who have died and all who mourn them.
