Little Gidding Quiet Day

Occurring
for 10 hours
Venue
Ferrar House
Address
Ferrar House, Ferrar House Little Gidding Huntingdon, PE28 5RJ, United Kingdom

See attached file for itinerary.

A quiet day is an opportunity to take a step back from the busyness of life and to retreat to a different place to spend time with God. Little Gidding is a place made holy by prayer, it is a ‘thin place’ where many have encountered the presence of God. The theme for the day will be "Desert Places" and the Rector will lead two short reflections. The first will be drawn from Rowan William’s excellent book on the spirituality of the Desert Fathers ‘Silence and Honeycakes’. For the second reflection we will be looking at Isaiah 35, ‘The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose.' There will times for prayer together as well as time for silence alone. There are some nice walks around the house, particularly to Steeple Gidding, a redundant church which is always open to the public.

St Giles in the Fields (in the West End of London)

We welcome all those wishing to find God in their lives and offer solidarity in faith, rooted in an ancient and lively tradition. At St Giles being loved by God comes before where we stand in society. Our Christian faith is open to all those who seek after truth.

We offer worship which is reverent, traditional, dignified and uplifting, all within the ethos of the Anglican tradition and drawn from the Book of Common Prayer and the Authorised Version of the Bible. Our worship draws on the richness of the Christian tradition of language and music to identify ourselves with the past generation of worshippers, to pray for the world and our local community and to look to the future with hope.
