Finance
Each church stands alone, financially. The Parochial Parish Council (PCC) for each church is responsible for the finances of their church. This includes ensuring there is enough money to pay the bills, finance repairs, and pay their share towards our Rector and the staff at the Diocese.
The PCCs hold fundraising events to boost their funds and may apply for grants for major repairs to their ancient, listed buildings. However, they largely rely on the generosity of the congregation and parishioners who give to the church. Many commit to regular giving via the Parish Giving Scheme (PGS).
The PGS is an exciting, free resource to help our benefice and and members of the wider community give more efficiently to our churches and save parishes valuable time! It is now possible for donors to give by telephone, more details below.
The PGS offers a direct debit covenant between a donor and parish that includes optional inflationary giving and automated collection of Gift Aid. The scheme was launched in our diocese in 2018 and has now been adopted by over 230 parishes with over 1,800 generous donors!
The PGS allows people to give, and centralises the collection of gift aid on relevant donations, maximising the giving and monies received by the churches and reducing the burden on treasurers and the PCCs.
If you are able to contribute financially to any of the eight churches in our benefice, ideally by the PGS, or by standing order, this would greatly be appreciated as we continue doing God’s work here. Please contact me, Fr Chris 01440 762901
