Thirty-five people sat down to a "bring-and-share lunch" in the church of St Peter and St Paul's in Kedington on 6 October 2024. In the last few years, the number attending has risen steadily. Today, the long table, as well as filling the chancel went a third of the way down the knave. Attenders brought sweet and savoury dishes to share, including Joan Ford's famous pavlova and Marion Farrant's cheese and onion quiche. Many hands made the clearing up swift and we left the church mice to investigate the harvest decorations. At the service earlier in the day, many gifts of tinned and packed food were brought to the altar as we gave thanks for our food and another harvest season. These items will be take to Haverhill Food Bank.
The sun shone and the rain kept away for the Kedington Church Fete on the meadow opposite the church on Saturday 7 September. As well as the bar and BBQ, there was bottle stall, a raffle for three luxury hampers, produce stall and games for all ages. Alongside the fete, the Home-made and Home-grown show took place in the church. The number of exhibits for the fruit, veg and flowers were lower than previous years but the children's classes, arts and crafts and culinary sections were considerably higher. It too the judges two hours to taste all the cake, scones, jams, pies and chutneys.
