LENT COURSE - The Prophets

Occuring
Every Tuesday at for 1 hour, 30 mins
Venue
Thornton Le Street Village Hall
Address
Thornton Le Street Village Hall, YO7 4DS

Many of us know stories of the Old Testament, The Creation, Adam and Eve, Noah and the flood, Daniel and the lions, Jonah and the whale, Moses at the Red Sea, John the Baptist, maybe stories to of Abraham, Gideon, Elijah and Elisha; but not so many are familiar with the prophets, except where we hear readings at Christmas and the festivals.
Yet the prophets were courageous in their time, standing against kings and empires, risking their lives and often paying a heavy price. As Lent takes us to the suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus, it is right to study those who bore the mark of suffering for the cause of God in earlier years.
Each study, led by Stephen or Tricia, will consider one prophet or leader; it will include refreshments, and finish by 9pm at the latest.
20th February Session 1 – Isaiah
27th February Session 2 – Deborah
5th March Session 3 – Jeremiah
12th March Session 4 – Daniel
19th March Session 5 – Hosea

St Andrew

Welcome to St Andrew's Church. We are always pleased to see people at Church, and anyone may contact the vicar Stephen Treasure at [email protected] about any matter relating to the parish, including weddings and baptisms. Happy to hear from you. We are an inclusive Church, welcoming people of any race, gender or sexuality.

Sermons are normally preached from the Bible passage for the day, and are intended to give guidance, support and encouragement in the Christian life. Lay people do the readings and often the intercessions. Coffee, tea and refreshments are served both at the start of the service (to wake you up when you come), and at the end. The third Sunday of the month is All-Age worship, when recently-confirmed families make a special point of attending.
