Eco Global Engagement

St Mary's aims to engage with others globally through a number of means, to show love for our fellow man wherever they live and whatever communities they belong to . We offer prayers in most services, for those suffering and in need in other parts of the world. We have for many years engaged in the Christian Aid Week global collections each May, for communities in desperate need around the world - these have been focussed on countries and communities in dire poverty, caused by the climate crisis, such as Burundi, in 2022, 2023 and 2024. We also undertake other periodic Christian Aid crisis collections. Haughley Crawfords Church of England Primary School is working towards the Christian Aid Global Neighbours School scheme with effect from January 2025. We are committed to Global challenges and events throughout the year - namely Earth Hour, an international movement, this year on 22nd March 2025 at 8.30 p.m.; Plastic Free July, an international movement, from 1st – 31st July 2025 (with Plastic Bag Free Day on 3rd July); and Fair Trade Fortnight, an international movement, in 2025 from 9th – 22nd September 2025. We also are part of a toilet twinning scheme with a community in Africa. We are inviting speakers in to talk about the climate crisis and its impact.
