Dear friends,Tomorrow we gather for Holy Communion at:9.00 am – St James’, Lealholm.10.45 am – St Hilda’s, Egton (with a more all-age focus). Our theme will be “Running with Perseverance – God’s Call for Our Church.” In Hebrews Chapter 12 we’re reminded that faith is like running a race – it takes stamina, encouragement, and keeping our eyes fixed on God. Together we’ll reflect on how, as a church across our four parishes, we’re called to keep going with perseverance even when the road feels long, trusting that the journey leads us into the eternal love God has promised.I know that not everyone who receives these emails can be physically present on a Sunday morning. We now have 127 people signed up to MailChimp, spread across our villages and beyond, so please receive this message as a blessing for wherever you are. That place – your home, your community, your daily life – is an important part of the life of our church too.On a personal note, I want to thank you all for the many cards, messages, and kind thoughts and prayers that Sam and I have received following the recent death of my parents. Their joint funeral takes place in Blackpool on Monday, and I am so grateful for your love and patience as we journey through this sad time. We’d very much appreciate your thoughts on Monday afternoon.Thank you too for bearing with me in recent weeks. My hope and prayer is that, after Monday, we will begin to find a new sense of rhythm and return to normal in our life together as a benefice. I am especially grateful to Jackie Newton for her extra care and ministry in these weeks – not least also caring for Meru and Malkie while we are away in Blackpool. Please do join us tomorrow if you’re able – you’ll be very welcome. With love and prayers,Anthony---The Reverend Anthony Bennett

We are not having a meeting on Wednesday this week. Our Advisory Council is tracking and progressing the specific actions we have developed over the last few joint meetings. For the meeting on 7th July, please advise any special dietary requirements. The buffet will include gluten free options. If you’re coming, are not part of a PCC, and you would like some food please let me know ASAP. Liz Druce is catering for us again, so I very much look forward to sharing tea with you, especially Liz’s cakes! As noted on the agenda, ahead of the meeting:please could you visit one of our church buildings or grounds (not necessarily your own). Bring along your reflections to share by answering these questions:What felt especially welcoming or inviting? What did you see that needs improving? If I don't see you on or before 7th July, this message comes with love and blessings, and the hope that we will catch up soon. Do drop me a reply back if there’s anything you think I can help you with. With all good wishes,Anthony---The Reverend Anthony Bennett---Interim MinisterMiddle ESK Moor | Whitby Deanery | York Diocesesubscribe to our email newsletters---email: anthony@middleeskmoor.uklandline: 01947899843mobile: 07484735284middleESKmoor.ukEnriching, Sharing, Knowing
Join us this Sunday across Middle Esk MoorThis is a quick Round Robin reminder for our services on Sunday 29 June 2025, as we celebrate the Festival of Peter and Paul and come together for our Fifth Sunday Celebrations – a special opportunity to gather across parish boundaries in shared worship and fellowship.Whether you're planning to come along, thinking about it, attending elsewhere, or praying from home, please know that you are warmly part of our shared journey in faith. Here’s what’s happening tomorrow in our church communities:9.00 am – Holy Communion at St James’, LealholmA peaceful and reflective service with hymns, readings, and a sermon continuing our Nicene Creed reflections – this week exploring the phrase “in one God.” We’ll give thanks for the witness of Peter and Paul and the unity we’re called in to.Tap/click here for further details3.00 pm – Evensong (BCP) at St Hilda’s, EgtonA traditional service of Evening Prayer from the Book of Common Prayer, with psalms, canticles, scripture, and much-loved rhythm and space. A beautiful way to close our Fifth Sunday Celebration – and a chance to draw strength from the language and tradition of centuries past.Tap/click here for further detailsLooking ahead to Wednesday 2 JulyUnfortunately, both Bible Space and Deanery Evening Prayer have been cancelled this week, as I’ll be attending my last Germinate Leadership residential, which now runs into Wednesday evening. It was originally scheduled to finish at lunchtime, so I would have been back in time. Apologies for the change of plan. Bible Space will start on Wednesday 16th July, 6.30 to 8.30 pm at The Vicarage.Wherever you are this weekend, may you know the peace of Christ and the companionship of our churches across Middle Esk Moor. We’d love to see you if you’re able to join us.With all good wishes,Reverend Anthony
