About Us
OUR CHURCH
We are a village church, dedicated to St Mary the Virgin, in the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich. Our worship reflects the broad mainstream tradition of the Church of England.
OUR HISTORY
St Mary’s Church, Great Bealings is a beautiful place, with many treasures, lovingly accumulated over the years.
The Seckford Memorial and the tudor-brick Seckford porch are reminders of the strong link with the Seckford family in the 16th century.
There are medieval pews, with carved wooden pew ends, and later pew end carvings created by Ipswich wood carver Henry Ringham in the 19th century as part of the major refurbishment instigated by Canon Edward Moor’s family.
The stained-glass windows, carved main doors and Jacobean pulpit - with testa - are similarly to be admired.
