Walking Country

The parish of Upper Ryedale is ideal walking country.

Criss-crossed by paths and containing some of the most beautiful countryside in England, it is just the place for the occasional ambler or the dedicated rambler.

Our churches are always open, and we welcome visitors.
Old Byland and Cold Kirby churches provide help-yourself refreshments to walkers and ramblers.

Prayer

Walk with me always,
incendiary Friend,
walk with me always.

Let us stride out.

May my thoughts
with quick wing beat
catch life
from Your thoughts,
may they go darting
and wheeling
freely together
out in the open.

Quiet Stranger,
teach me what's needed.

And walk with me always.
