The main service of the day begins with the Liturgy of the Word, culminating in the reading of the Passion from the Gospel of John. Then the Cross is brought into church for veneration, allowing us time and silence to meditate on the mystery of Christ's suffering. Finally there is the opportunity to receive Holy Communion uniting us with our Lord on this solemn day.
