Richard Cantrell is a Volunteer Dog Trainer and Speaker for the charity, and he will be explaining how the dogs are trained, and showing what an amazing difference they can make to the lives of deaf people, helping them to reconnect with life.
Hearing Dogs for Deaf People have two training centres in England - one being in North Yorkshire, just outside Pocklington, the other in Buckinghamshire. There are about 1000 working hearing dog partnerships in the UK at the present time. Hearing Dogs not only alert deaf people to important and life saving sounds, such as smoke alarms, doorbells, and oven timers, they also provide lots of love, companionship and emotional support to their deaf partners, helping them to leave loneliness behind.
