Marton Church was described recently in our visitors' book as "The sort of church I love … a joy to visit."
There are a lot of misconceptions about the finances involved in keeping churches open. We do not receive any government or national funding but instead depend financially on the generous giving of visitors and congregation members (past and present).
We are also immensely grateful to all who support the church by giving their time to care for the churchyard, fabric of the building, and planning/preparing for services and events.
We have produced a leaflet to explain how any money donated to Marton is spent, as we believe it is important to demonstrate transparency and integrity in our finances. For example, whenever possible we donate any excess income to relevant charities. Recently we have supported Toilet Twinning (and Tap Twinning during the pandemic), The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (to support our local agricultural community), the Rainbow Centre in Scarborough (for their work supporting refugees) and our harvest gifts were donated to the Fairfax Corner Cafe in York.
Please contact us via [email protected] if you have any queries about finances!
Many thanks!
