Baptisms

Across the Parish, it is a joy to see so many baptisms taking place. We thought it may be useful to explain a bit about what a Childhood baptism means:

Your child is precious to you and precious to God. You want the very best for them, and so does God. You want them to make right choices in life, for themselves and for others.

A baptism is just the beginning of this and so much more. Over the years to come, it’s a journey you’ll share together with your child by:

• Being there for your child to talk to about the bigger questions of life – questions about hope, faith and love.

• Praying for your child through the ups and downs of their faith journey.

• Showing them practically how to make those good choices in life.

• Helping them to learn more about their Christian faith, through their church and in other ways

Baptisms are about making a commitment to start as you mean to go on.

A baptism is also a time to celebrate and welcome your Child into the Christian family of love and faith. It is also an important rite of passage for the child and the whole family. It is a celebration of life and love.

If you are considering a baptism we are here to guide and support you through this and through the baptism service (which is often part of the usual Sunday morning service). Nick will make the service special and memorable for you, your Godparents, family and friends. If you are considering a baptism please do contact us.

We are also happy to discuss Adult baptisms, a wonderful experience where promises are made and people are welcomed into the Church. People are never too old to be baptised!

A baptism is a time for welcome, with no conditions or barriers.
