On the 28th September 1943 a Halifax bomber on a training mission, crashed near Cock Hill farm in Moor Monkton with the loss of all 7 Canadian and UK airmen on board.
In 2012 due to an error in historical research, a memorial service and the unveiling of a plaque to the airmen erroneously took place in Cock Hill , Edlington, near Doncaster. In 2019, the error was discovered and Edlington council kindly contacted Moor Monkton Parish Council and started the process of righting that wrong.
The dedication service which will be attended by a number of Canadian and UK dignitaries.
This will be followed by refreshments in the Old School Room.
