Throughout Tuesday 10th October all pupils from Appleton Primary school came, class by class, to the Methodist chapel in Appleton. They brought beautiful gifts from home and as a class they had lots of fun packing 48 separate boxes for vulnerable babies, children and elderly people in Romania. Over a biscuit and some juice we talked about how deep generosity is giving when you know you won't be repaid - mirroring the love that we know from God.
Our dedicated team is really excited to host our new monthly service called roots. We meet outside where the wooded path meets Holme Green in Appleton Roebuck. It is a beautiful spot that we take great care of. We spend an hour in creation, using nature to explore faith. This is an active type of service where we walk, play and gather around our campfire. We take home a wondering thought about God. Why don't you join us on July 2nd as we explore our care of people and creatures: we’ll explore outdoor habitats, make homes for bugs, and see what the Bible tells us about how much God cares about us. Dress for the weather. Bring a camping chair if you'd like to sit down. All welcome. Communion with the stripping of the altar was our first point of reflecting on Jesus loving actions during Holy Week. We washed hands as we listened to Ubi Caritas - where there is love and charity, God is there.Good Friday morning was full of Easter trail, egg hunts, butterfly painting, Easter garden making and then a walk of witness to the chapel where we thought about the. Easter story.Good Friday afternoon and the Last hour of the Cross was more reflective as we paused and prayed and listened to the events recalled in Luke's gospel. Taize chants helped us meditate on our part in the story.Easter Saturday was an opportunity to pray using 4 areas set out to bring to God our loss, sadness, sense of failing and isolation.Easter Sunday was a joyful time of remembering how everything is changed because Jesus died, was buried and is now risen and alive.
