Read the Word - Fridays in Lent at St Mary's

Occurring
Every Friday at for 1 hour, 15 mins
Venue
St Mary's
Address
Clensmore Street Kidderminster, DY10 2JN, United Kingdom

On five Fridays in Lent we are reading together through one of the New Testament Epistles. We will be looking at St Paul’s First Letter to the Corinthians. We are very familiar with some sections which are set readings in our Sunday services. But this gives an opportunity to read through the whole book in manageable chunks. Did St Paul regard Corinth as a “problem church”? What was the background to this correspondence? What issues did he have to deal with? What do we learn for our own discipleship and the life of the church today?

We meet in church at 2 pm on these Fridays:
March 14, 21, 28, April 4, 11.

St Mary's

St Mary's is the historic Parish Church of Kidderminster.  It is the beautiful place where our church members and visitors gather every Sunday to offer praise and prayers to God, and to be refreshed and equipped to live out our Christian life in the week ahead.  Because of its place in the history of Kidderminster we are often the location for civic services for the whole town - most notably on Remembrance Sunday each year.  We welcome anyone who wants to join us for worship or our other activities, or to step into the beauty of the building - a place where God's presence can bring calm and stillness in the hectic rush of life.

Our Sunday worship is traditional with a robed choir and hymns accompanied by the organ. Families and children are welcome .

The church is a historic building.  During the summer months we welcome visitors on Tuesdays and Thursdays  (from 11 am to 3 pm) who come to explore this building where prayer has been offered for centuries.  Look at this website around Easter 2025 to see when this will begin again.

We exist to honour God and proclaim the Gospel, to nourish followers of Jesus Chist and to serve the community.   We are part of a Local Ecumenical Partnership with Trinity Methodist and a member of Churches Together in Kidderminster supporting the Foodbank and Street Pastors in the town.
