On Thursday 6th June the nation will remember the D-Day landings in 1944 - when British and Allied troops landed on the Normandy beaches to start rolling back the Nazi occupation of France and the Low Countries, and fight on to bring the Second World War to an end in Europe.
On this 80th anniversary, the timetable of observances follows a pattern across the country. In Kidderminster these observances will take place at the steps of St Mary's Church.
At 7.55 am Kidderminster's Town Crier will herald the day, with a bagpipe tribute at 8 am.
At 6.30 pm the bells of St Mary''s will ring out.
At 9 pm there will again be a Town crier proclamation, bagpipe tribute and now a Tribute from the Mayor.

The church will be open during the day.

And at 12 noon in St Mary's church there will be a short gathering (20 minutes) to mark the anniversary, honour the bravery of those involved in D-Day, and to pray for world peace now.
You are invited to come and share in this.

St Mary's

St Mary's is the historic Parish Church of Kidderminster. On most Sundays at least 50 of our regular members will be present to offer praise and prayers to God, and to be refreshed and equipped to live out our Christian life in the week ahead.  Because of our place in the history of Kidderminster we are often the location for civic services for the whole town - most notably on Remembrance Sunday each year.  We welcome anyone who wants to join us for worship or our other activities, or to step into the beauty of the building - a place where God's presence can bring calm and stillness in the hectic rush of life.

Our Sunday worship is traditional with a robed choir and hymns accompanied by the organ. Families and children are welcome .

The church is a historic building.  During the summer months we welcome visitors on Tuesdays and Thursdays  (from 11 am to 3 pm) who come to explore this building where prayer has been offered for centuries.  Look at this website around Easter 2025 to see when this will begin again.

We exist to honour God and proclaim the Gospel, to nourish followers of Jesus Chist and to serve the community.   We are part of a Local Ecumenical Partnership with Trinity Methodist and a member of Churches Together in Kidderminster supporting the Foodbank and Street Pastors in the town.
