Here's a short video filmed by one of our bellringers last week of our resident bat population emerging at dusk. There are definitely no bats in the belfry at S.Peter's as we had a bat survey carried out as part of the Bats in Churches project a few years ago. They can squeeze into tiny holes and crevices in the truck of the tree and then emerge at dusk to hunt for insects. The bats in the video are most likely Pipistrelle bats or Saprano Pipistrelle bats. It would be interesting to find out what other species we have! Many thanks to Katie, our Tower Captain for taking the video
(4) Video | Facebook
What joy this Pentecost to receive eight of our children and one adult into First Holy Communion after a series of preparation sessions in which they were amazing and insightful. And to baptise a family into the Church, claimed by Love, for love, in the Name of Christ - welcome to everyone, and congratulations! If you would like to explore First Holy Communion, or baptism, please ask Mthr V - message us through the facebook page, or email on mthrvictoria@halasteam.org.uk
with many thanks to the Mothers’ Union here at S. Peter’s! The Mothers’ Union have a wide ministry of prayer, service and social justice campaigning, but they also are phenomenalKnitters. These items were blessed in the worship last week to go off and share the love with families and especially small or premature babies in the local area
LET THERE BE LIGHT - (with reduced glare)!A very big thank you to Robert Chapman of Chapman's Electrical for making arrangements for our chandeliers to take a set of reclaimed opaline light shades. The shades were saved from the now closed church of S. Peter's in Upper Gornal part of Gornal and Sedgley Team Ministry https://www.facebook.com/share/1jHALVPHmT88Q6PC/Special thanks go to electrical engineers, Alan, Sam and another young lad whose name we didn't catch for carrying out the work to a high standard. The shades have replaced missing ones that got broken many years ago. Hopefully it will reduce glare, especially for people sitting upstairs in the galleries for concerts and services. Thanks also goes to Ian Cramp our Diocesan Lighting Advisor for his help and support.
