St John Baptist Church, Claines

Welcome to a very much loved 15th Century Church, dedicated to St. John Baptist.

A wooden Saxon Church existed in 957 AD, and the first known priest in Claines was Behstan, named in a document of the time. It was replaced by a stone Norman church at the direction of St Wulstan, last of the great Saxon Bishops of Worcester, built in the 11th Century (soon after the Norman Conquest).

We are an inclusive church where everyone is welcome to join us.

There are a variety of worship & service styles offered in the church offering many different opportunities for worship and faith exploration.

Safeguarding

St John Baptist Claines is committed to safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults to worship and grow in Christ safely.

We take that commitment very seriously and believe that making our church safe for all is everyone’s responsibility. To enable this, our church safeguarding team provide polices, procedures, advice, training and support to paid and voluntary members.

This we hope will ensure that all can flourish as God’s Kingdom People.

We all have a duty of care to protect children & adults in our church

Our Parochial Church Council have designated members whom you can go to if you should have a concern about anyone in our parish or church whom you think is vulnerable or at risk.

If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services."
