The Royal British Legion is recognised as the national custodian of Remembrance.Remembrance Sunday, the second Sunday in November, is the day traditionally put aside to remember all those who have given their lives for the peace and freedom we enjoy today. Remembrance Sunday at Claines is a major annual event which we coordinate with St John the Baptist Church, Claines. We are also supported by our local uniformed youth organisations. The event starts with a Parade to Claines Church for wreath laying at the War Memorial followed by a Remembrance Service in Church. We are always well supported by the local community and everyone, who is able to march, member or not, is welcome to join the parade which sets off from the corner of St Anne’s Road at 10.20am for the march to church.Lead by the Stourport Band there are many spectators lining the route as the parade travels along Cornmeadow Lane. We are joined by the local Scout and Guide organisations as the parade passes their HQ in Cornmeadow Lane. After the service, the parade returns to the Claines Royal British Legion Club in Cornmeadow Lane which opens its doors to the whole community. This year the Community Voices choir based in Claines will be singing at the club.
