Following last Saturday’s meeting in the church, Revd
Claire reports very positively as follows:
The meeting about the future of St Leonard’s was very
well attended last week and comments were positive.
Thanks to all who have offered help already - more
offers will be appreciated.
Please contact a member of your PCC for further
information.
Offers can also be made through me at
[email protected]
and I will pass them on.
Next Sunday, 8 October at 4.00pm there will be a
special All-Age Family Service in St Leonard’s.
Everyone will be very welcome.
Please do come along with family and friends to enjoy
the companionship of the community and to show
your support for those working to preserve this lovely
church for the coming years.
Nancy Murray-Peters
A lot of us remember Nancy for the friend and mentor
she has been to our Benefice over a very long time –
her Sunday services, her carol services at Churchill,
weddings, baptisms and funerals. Her fun and interest
and love of everyone she met and the support she has
given to so many. Nancy is now in the care of St
Richard’s Hospice in Worcester and we ask for your
thoughts and prayers for her at this time.
October
With the coming of 1 October, I am sure we all feel
that autumn and the season of mists and mellow
fruitfulness have arrived – a time maybe to think
about the joys of the summer just gone and look
forward to the days shortening with the nights
drawing in; the changing of the clocks; the work to be
done to put the garden to bed for the winter.
Conkers, last flush of summer roses, the beautiful
Michaelmas Daisies, the hips and haws and
blackberries…… A time to marvel at nature in all her
abundance and beauty.
This meditation is from The Quiet Garden Movement.
Each garden of quiet is a place of journeys;
adventures of faith, hope and love,
tentative paths of unknowing and knowing,
of uncertainty and assurance.
Here, in a momentary stilling of the anxious mind,
we can ask for God’s releasing love
in the patterning of our past
and the anticipation of our future –
Both drawing close in the gift of the now.
We bless you,
God of Seed and Harvest
and we bless each other
that the beauty of this world
and the love that created it
might be expressed though our lives
and be a blessing to others
now and always. Amen.
