O Lord, we beseech you mercifully to hear the

prayers

of your people who call upon you;
and grant that they may both perceive and know
what things they ought to do,
and also may have grace and power faithfully to

fulfil them;

through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Meeting for Broughton Hackett
Please do come along to the meeting in St Leonard’s
Church, Broughton Hackett THIS SATURDAY to hear
about and take part in the discussions concerning the
future for this lovely old church, at the very heart of

the village.

St Leonard’s has been loved by congregations and
villagers alike for many generations. It has witnessed
the joys and sorrows of family life and community and
national events since the 14 th century. Its walls are
suffused with village history, and the laughter and
tears of countless people over the centuries.
It needs your help now if it is to be saved to grace the
village and be there for village residents in the future.
Imagine what it might be with the church gone from

the village’s heart and soul.
Please do come to St Leonard’s at 4.00pm this
Saturday 23 September to listen, speak, commit and

volunteer help.

The end of September is in sight and Autumn draws
near. Our thoughts turn to the countryside around us.
The harvests of the hedgerow with the abundant
supply of blackberries; the fields shorn of their crops
waiting to be to be ploughed up ready for the spring
planting; trees groaning under the weight of apples
and pears; conkers falling; the first signs of leaves
changing colour and the nights drawing in…….

We bless you,
God of Seed and Harvest
And we bless each other
That the beauty of this world
And the love that created it
Might be expressed though our lives
And be a blessing to others
Now and always. Amen.

There are so many around the world who never
experience the joy of a bountiful harvest and through
our congregations, money is raised both for those
overseas and also for people in need here at home.
The Food banks desperately need our continuing
support to help local families to feed themselves

during these tough times.

Items can be left in church, at The Pantry in Peopleton
and in all the local supermarkets.
Lord Christ,

we are strangers and pilgrims on the earth,
disconcerted by the world’s violence and sorrow:
Wherever we are on this day’s journey
breathe on us your gentle Spirit
that we may be oases of quiet and refreshment
bringing to your uneasy world
reconciliation and peace. Amen.
