Collect
Merciful God,
you have prepared for those who love you
such good things as pass our understanding:
pour into our hearts such love toward you
that we, loving you in all things and above all things,
may obtain your promises,
which exceed all that we can desire;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen

Hackett for the 5 th Sunday Service on 30 July. As you
will have seen from this month’s Bowline, St Leonard’s

show your support in a very practical way.
A thank you from Claire
Dear all,
I’d like to say a heartfelt “THANK YOU” to everyone
who had anything at all to do with my licensing
service on Sunday. I would love to have sent
individual cards round to you all but would
obviously run the risk of missing someone out
and I would hate to do that.
Thank you to Heather for coordinating everything
and for all of the arrangements she and her
helpers put in place.
So much to give thanks for; flowers in church,
music, field for parking, proper ink and a pen to
sign the certificate with photographs, plus so many
cards from so many of you.
Plus of course a ‘thank you’ to everyone who turned
up on the day – an eye-popping 130 of you. I hope you
enjoyed the service – I certainly did!
Our church community in these villages is wonderfully
welcoming – there were people at the service who
don’t attend church often and they were made to feel
they were in the right place. Thank you for making
them feel as wanted as I do.
Other stuff…….
If you are planning to get married, want your child
baptised, would like the opportunity for home
communion or could just do with a talk about spiritual
things that are troubling you – please do contact
Claire. 07921 101320 or [email protected]
If you have anything you would like included in these
Weekly Notices, particularly over the next few weeks
when we will be in the silly summer season please

The Bowland Benefice Council next meets on 25 July.
The Council is made of representatives of our
Benefice Churches. Together with Revd Claire, a
Treasurer and Secretary they all work hard
to maintain the spiritual and community life of the
congregations within the Bowland Benefice. If you
would like anything discussed at the meeting, please
let me know – [email protected]
I heard the voice of Jesus say,
‘I am this dark world’s light;
look unto me, thy morn shall rise,
and all thy day be bright’:
I looked to Jesus, and I found
in him my star, my sun;
and in that light of life I’ll walk
till travelling days are done.’
(from the words of a hymn by Horatius Bonar
(1808-1889)
