Almighty and everlasting God,

Claire’s Licensing Service followed by refreshments

this coming Sunday
Claire writes:
On Sunday I shall be licensed as priest in
charge of this Benefice.
One of the statements I shall be making in
that service is that I will continually stir up the
gift of God that is in me.
I have been constantly surprised and
overjoyed to find that my calling is to be a
priest right here where I have lived for so

many years.

Surprised because being a priest at all and
accepting the gift of God was totally
unexpected; overjoyed because this is my
home and I am amongst friends who have
watched and been a part of my journey of

faith.

Ministry, especially in rural parishes, is varied
and can be challenging.  It doesn’t just involve
a service on a Sunday but can be all-
consuming:  baptisms, weddings, funerals,
visiting and getting to know parishioners.
Not to mention learning the many rules,
regulations and traditions that make up good
parish ministry.  Plus of course the value of
listening, thinking and praying before
speaking or making decisions.
I am sure I will always be learning and I look
forward to growing into being your parish
vicar during the years to come.

A Service of Celebration

12th July at 7:30pm at St Peter’s, Bengeworth
Revd Canon Sarah Dangerfield writes:
We want to celebrate every role that contributes to
the functioning of the churches in our deanery.  This
includes those vital roles of cleaning the church,
making the coffees, tidying the churchyard, operating
the sound system, leading worship, being an Open the
Book team member. We encourage you to bring along
a small symbol to represent the role which you fulfil;
e.g. a teapot, a musical instrument, a screwdriver, a
flower, a hand bell, a prayer book etc.
Address by Archdeacon Robert Jones.
This is an opportunity to say farewell to Robert before

his retirement in the Autumn.
Parking is available courtesy of Lidl. Please
park on the Broadway Road side.
