O God,

the strength of all those who put their trust in you,
mercifully accept our prayers and,
because through the weakness of our mortal nature
we can do no good thing without you,
grant us the help of your grace,
that in the keeping of your commandments
we may please you both in will and deed;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Important announcement!!

Revd Claire Billington has now formally been offered
and accepted the post of Priest in Charge of the

Bowland Benefice.

She has heard from Archdeacon Robert that the
licensing service will be on Sunday 9 July at 6.00pm in
the church of St John the Baptist, White Ladies Aston.
More details later – watch this space!
Bishop John says of her appointment….
Your appointment is very good news for the Benefice
and for the Pershore and Evesham Deanery. May God
bring you much joy in this new stage of your Christian
ministry and, in the meantime, bless you as you
prepare for your new role.

Today, as well as being the First Sunday after Trinity is
also The Feast of St Barnabas the Apostle
Barnabas was born Joseph and was an early Christian.
Although not one of the original Twelve
Apostles, Barnabas was referred to as an apostle by
the early Christian Church (Acts 14:14.)
There is also a Church tradition, which says that
Barnabas was First of the seventy disciples of our Lord.
St. Luke described Barnabas as a good man, full of the
Holy Spirit and of faith (Acts 6:24), and he was known
for his exceptional kindliness and personal sanctity,

and his openness to pagans.

He served both as a sponsor and mentor for Paul and
is, therefore, considered the patron saint of second

chances.
