O God the King of glory,
you have exalted your only Son Jesus Christ
with great triumph to your kingdom in heaven:
we beseech you, leave us not comfortless,
but send your Holy Spirit to strengthen us
and exalt us to the place where our Saviour Christ

is gone before,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Christian Aid Week 2023 (14 to 20 May)
It is a week where Christians all over the UK work as
one to support people in all parts of our troubled
planet without reference to nationality, gender or

creed.

The theme this year is: No mother should have to
choose which child to send to school
There is a red Christian Aid bucket in The Pantry shop
and another at The Crown pub in Peopleton for your

Christian Aid envelopes.

Donations can also be made directly through the

Christian Aid website.
Food Banks

We must not forget too, that even though the
weather is improving there are many people in this
country and in our locality struggling with their
household bills and feeding their families – there are
collection boxes around the Benefice and in

supermarkets too.
Every little really does help!
A poem for these beautiful May days –
Part of a Meditation by Joy Cowley
You big, bright beautiful God,
This is my day for flying!
I reach out to the bigness of you.
I touch the brightness of you
and I feel the beauty of you
in the centre of my living.
And if tomorrow I am grounded
by a weight of anxieties,

if my feet are heavy and there are clouds between

me and the sun,

then let me keep hold of the warm place

in my heart
reminding me that today I flew
and was kissed by God.
Prayers for when things get difficult
Lord, increase my faith that I may embrace everything

that is your will.

Lord, increase my faith that the mountain of difficulty

may be removed.

Lord, increase my faith that I may never be impatient

or frustrated.

Lord, increase my faith that I may run to you in every

situation.

Lord, increase my faith that I may trust you in seeming

failure or defeat.

Lord, fill me with faith, hope and love, this day and

always. Amen.

Heavenly Father, surround us with your love,
protect us from evil and fill us with your Holy Spirit
that we may walk in the way of Christ and grow in the

knowledge of your love.
