Today marks the beginning of Christian

Aid Week 2023
which runs from 14 to 20 May
It is a week where Christians all over the UK work as
one to support people in all parts of our troubled
planet without reference to nationality, gender or

creed.

It is a week which helps us to turn our thoughts to the
wider world and gives us opportunities to understand
more fully the struggles that many people across the

globe face from day to day.
It is a time when we can help by digging into our
wallets and bank accounts to help those across the
world committed to relieving poverty and sickness

wherever it occurs.
The theme this year is:

No mother should have to choose which child to

send to school –

A reality for so many especially now with the extra
hardships caused by climate changes and global crises.
Please do take a few minutes to look at Christian Aid’s

very informative web site.
Gill Creed, Peopleton’s local organiser says…….
There will be a banner outside St Nicholas Church in
Peopleton advertising the week.
Envelopes will be posted through the letterboxes of all

the houses in Peopleton.

There will be a red Christian Aid bucket in The Pantry
shop in Peopleton and at The Crown pub in Peopleton.
Donations can be posted or just put into these red

buckets.

Donations can also be made directly through the

Christian Aid website.

A donation of £10 could provide a farmer with 2kgs of
seed to plant a crop of pigeon peas – a hardy drought
resistant, nutritious food for his family.
Some Christian Aid Prayers
God, gardener of Eden,
who flung stars into space
and nurtures the tiniest plant,

lift our hopes and dreams above the loss and damage

of our suffering planet,

that we might share your long-dreamed vision which
values all life - the pea as much as the plant,
fill us with your life-giving hope and inspire us with
your creative Spirit now, and in the age to come.

Amen.

Go into the world working together
for change so that everyone can thrive
and share life in all its fullness.
And in all we do let us show the love of Jesus.
Let us treat everyone with dignity. Amen.
