Third Sunday of Easter
Collect
Almighty Father,

who in your great mercy gladdened the disciples
with the sight of the risen Lord:
give us such knowledge of his presence with us,
that we may be strengthened and
sustained by his risen life
and serve you continually
in righteousness and truth;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Today is St George’s Day!
(and Shakespeare’s birthday too!)
A Prayer for St George

used by John Sentamu, former Archbishop of York
Heavenly Father, give us the bravery of St George
to stand up for the truth and the glory of God
that we have seen in the face of Jesus Christ.
Give us the strength to overcome
in our lives and in the world,
all that is contrary to your rule of justice and love.
Help us to be good news to the poor,
proclaim release to the captives
and recovery of sight to the blind;
let the oppressed go free, and

proclaim the good news of God's favour and Jubilee.

Amen.

The Coronation of King Charles 111
All the villages in our Benefice I feel sure will be
holding their own celebrations during the weekend
of the coronation but our churches are too………

…..so on Sunday 7 May…….
10.30am at St Kenelm’s Upton Snodsbury
A Royal Family Service followed by King Charles
Quiche and Prosecco and Nosecco (non-alcoholic) for

children and others.

We have it on the best authority that the quiche is
Charles’ and Camilla’s own vegetarian
recommendation…….
11.00am at St Nicholas, Peopleton
Coronation Holy Communion, specially devised by the
Church of England to mark this uplifting event
followed by refreshments and a celebratory cake.
6.00pm at St John the Baptist, White Ladies Aston
An evening service to celebrate the Coronation. Do go
along and join in this special occasion. Listen to
wonderful music and readings and sing some hymns.
An evening to wear your Sunday best
and don your hats!
Lord
help me
to remember
that nothing is going
to happen to me today
that you and I together
can’t handle.
Amen.
